GIRLS gone wild

Good music but a small and late crowd characterised 'Girls Gone Wild' last Tuesday at Weekenz on Constant Spring Road.

Having been held weekly since early May, when THE STAR team arrived at the venue after midnight the event had still not increased in the numbers of patrons attending.

After midnight there were a few persons by the bar standing and rocking to tunes from Bloodline. With Supa Hype on the mic it was all about the dancehall vibe, as selectors played songs for the women in the audience. Dude by Beenie Man and Ms Ting, Lady Saw and Ce'Cile's Loser and I've Got Your Man by Lady Saw were among the songs played.

By 12:30 a.m. patrons started to trickle in as Four Star Generals from Cassava Piece took over the wheels of steel. Dancer Keiva made an early appearance as she wined and danced in the centre of the venue. Playing a good set, Four Star Generals got the vibe going stronger with tunes from Bugle, Serani, Kartel and Mavado.

'Nuh lingering'

A few women soon made an appearance as they danced, while the crew of Ravers Clavers held their corner of the dance floor 'nuh lingering' at every opportunity. It was dancers Shelly Belly and Ice that showed off their fancy foot work as Shelly Belly did his classic chain swing and luggering while Ice showed the enraptured audience how the gully creeper was meant to be done.

The entertainment fraternity showed their support as THE STAR spotted the likes of Konshens, Shane O, Future Fambo, Harry Toddler, Elephant Man, Macka Diamond, Voicemail, Serani and DASECA. Macka Diamond even took to the dance floor dressed in her camouflage shirt and hat and did a little gangsta dance flashing money for the video light.

As Nico Bam Bam took over, the dancers started to represent as they playfully danced off each other for the cameras. By 1:30 a.m Assassin made a late appearance as he went on the mic offering US$300 to the best female dancer to come on stage. A slim female quickly leapt on stage, and to the crowd's delight, a large female in pink came on to contest her.

The two faced off first to Elephant Man's Nuh Linga as the crowd cheered for the fluffy one. Assassin, however, was not satisfied as he told the selector "give dem sumting to bruk out to." Nico played Beenie Man's 'Jiggle Up Yuh Body' and while the slimmer woman split and put on the moves, it was the larger female that won by jiggling a little (but a lot) as the crowd laughed.

Although the majority of patrons came out late, enjoying less than an hour of partying, by 2 a.m. they were quick to leave the venue.
