The 'bling king', dancer-turned-artiste Chi Ching Ching, is on the heels of releasing his debut album.

Titled Ghetto Classic Chi Ching Ching will be releasing his first album independently early next year.

Born Radion Beckford, Ching made it big on the scene this year with his hard-to-miss, long lanky form dancing and blinging each and every night at the hottest dances.

Ching started dancing professionally in 2000 and turned to music last year. With his catchy rhymes and slangs such as 'Eveeeryday' Ching soon made it unto the airwaves with Popcorn, featuring Bling Dawg.

Slightly annoying

While some might find the repetition of 'pop pop pop' in Popcorn slightly annoying, others can't seem to help clapping along to the beat. Chi Ching Ching told THE STAR that Popcorn was his first major buss in the business. More recently, Ching became the new face of Magnum's latest Cash-Een-Again competition.

His album Ghetto Classic will feature songs such as Popcorn, and his collaborations with the likes of Beenie Man and Tony Matterhorn.

Deejay Assassin poses with his 'Monster Girls' at Girls Gone Wild, held at Weekenz. The party series ended on Tuesday with a police lock-off at midnight. - Peta-Gaye Clachar photos

Following the premature shutdown of Assassin's Girls Gone Wild Tuesdays by the police this week, Bembe Thursdays, which is also held at Weekenz on Constant Spring Road, might suffer the same fate.

On Tuesday, a big bash was expected for the final Assassin's Girls Gone Wild. However, the party was locked off before 12:30 a.m.

When THE STAR arrived at Weekenz at 12:45 a.m, there was no music or signs of life at the venue.

There were no patrons and the regular jerk chicken, soup and peanut vendors were nowhere to be found. Only a few cars were parked in the adjacent parking lot.

Noise complaint

One of the promoters of the event said the party ended when two groups of police personnel entered the venue and ordered that the party end because residents around the area were complaining about the noise.

Deputy Superintendent Carol McKenzie, head of operations for the St Andrew North Police Division, said the police ended the party because it violated the Noise Abatement Act which says events held during the week must end by 12 a.m.

Mr Vegas - File

After 11 years in music, dancehall artiste Vegas, born Clifford Smith, is retiring to spend time with God and his kids.

He said his decision was ordained by God and it has been in the making for years.

"Is just something weh a build up from inna mi from a few years back. Mi just deh somewhere and mi nuh happy. Mi a fight a battle and a do something weh mi nuh enjoy," he told THE STAR.

Close to God and my kids

"People around you laugh and talk wid yuh and as yuh turn yuh back is a different thing. But this is just a time for me to get close to God and my kids."

But, the deejay says he has no plans to do gospel music.

"I have no plans to do gospel. I don't know what God has planned for me," said Vegas who became popular with songs such as Heads High, Nike Air and Jacket.

Vegas explained that he made attempts to leave the business in the past when Bounty Killer made negative remarks about him. However, he said, "If mi did walk away at the time mi would give Bounty the victory and mek people seh Bounty mash up Vegas career."

ICE TALKS DI TINGS: A PUMA DEAL?
Written by Di Boss
Thursday, 11 September 2008 10:25

[A nuh split or royalty mi a look from Ele enuh, a justice. Jus deal wid mi right - a my dance bring yuh back. Now mi hear im a say "Sweep" but "Sweep" a "Nuh Linga" an "Nuh Linga" a "Log On", so mi no know wah him a try.]

Has anyone heard about Ice's alleged endorsement deal with the sports wear giants, Puma? Hmmm, we see.

On the heels of the big man Usain "Lightning" Bolt sprinting and Gully Creeping his way into the collective hearts of the sporting world, it seemed things were starting to look up for Ice, the creator of the 'Gully Creeper' dance - finally. This, after, he accused his on-and-off-again (Nicole Richie-Paris Hylton-like) best friend, Elephant Man of usurping his glory (READ: "Ice Left Out In the Cold"), and not sharing the wealth acquired as a result of his dance.

But alas! David "Ice" Smith's endorsement deal was only a photoshoot and nothing more...still, no significant financial glory as a result of his dance sweeping the world.

In addition, the outspoken dancer, (who subsequent to the STAR interview in which he aired his grouses with Elephant Man, also appeared on a popular television programme with Ele, who he was again 'mucho mucho' friends with), told Dancehallmuzik.com what his current friendship was like with Elephant Man.

Dancehallmuzik.com: First of all, did you get a Puma deal?

ICE: A no deal enuh, dem jus call mi in fi put on some clothes an take some picture.

DHM: It seems that Elephant Man, as the one who came up with the song, "Gully Creeper" is reaping a lot more rewards than yourself, the creator of the dance, and this is usually the case with deejays, dancers and their creattions; how do you feel about this?

ICE: Well we been creating dances an slangs ova di years an wi no get no credit. A we say, "Wi Mucho Mucho," a we say "Caliente," a we say "Wi Tranquelo," an im tek it an run wid it - nuff people no know say a we say dat.
